Our PROGRAM
Our Spring ERB Prep Course serves two purposes for 7th graders: mastery of the ERB/CTP-5 and strong foundations for future high school admissions testing. We align the standards of the class to ensure students can achieve strong CTP-5 scores in the spring of 7th grade, while providing tools for foundational ISEE and SSAT testing. Our course covers all of the sections students will encounter on the CTP-5 and Upper Level ISEE. In this way, students are able to tackle both grade-level and advanced level material in all subject areas covered by both tests. Students who’ve taken this class have been able to build on their strengths and address key weaknesses at every skill level.
All classes will be conducted after school at Hannah Senesh.
We begin with the underlying concepts in math, vocabulary, reading, and writing. We use materials that we have designed to reflect the content students see from year to year, and provide feedback on all areas of the test.
Through weekly homework assignments, we familiarize students with the question constructions from the ERB, and a variety of other standardized tests, to ensure they are able to navigate new challenges and build on their strengths.
In the discussion-based part of the class, we share approaches - how to respond to certain questions, or navigate the time constraints of the test - so that each student understands the challenges of these tests are not theirs alone.

Who we are
City Smarts works with students in both one-on-one and workshop settings to ensure seamless transitions from middle school to high school, high school to college, and beyond. Our work is informed by the academic challenges students face both inside and outside the classroom. We work with students at a broad range of schools, and help students anticipate the curricula they’ll see in the years ahead. We have been working with Hannah Senesh students since 2007, some of whom are now college graduates.
